Not all sources from the Tibetan Plateau meet the same quality standards. That’s why our magnesium chloride flakes are independently laboratory tested in Australia to a sensitivity of 10 parts per billion, ensuring no lead or mercury detected.
Our magnesium chloride is also CERTIFIED food grade for safe use as a water and food additive. Note that there is currently no known source of magnesium chloride found at sea level or near mining, agriculture or population centres that meet this criteria due to environmental contaminants.
Known as “The King of the Minerals,” magnesium chloride hexahydrate (MgCl₂·6H₂O) is the most soluble and bioavailable natural form of magnesium. Once dissolved, it is already in the ideal form for absorption, requiring no further digestion.
As a transmembrane electrolyte salt, magnesium chloride can be absorbed through both the gut wall and the skin, making it ideal for drinking water, bathing, and foot soaks. Your gut lining and skin act as protective membranes, allowing magnesium to enter the body efficiently while supporting detoxification and waste elimination.
Elektra Magnesium® Chloride Flakes are food-grade and contain approximately 15-16% elemental magnesium, significantly higher than magnesium sulphate (Epsom salts), which contains around 9% and may be more irritating to the skin and digestive system. Our flakes are enriched with an additional 2% mountain glacier trace minerals, making them especially gentle and well-tolerated.
Sourced from a pristine lake on the Tibetan Plateau at 3,000 metres above sea level, the saltwater is naturally dehydrated in evaporation tanks. It is never extracted through solution mining, which can introduce contaminants and produce industrial-grade material. This natural process preserves purity and mineral integrity.

How to Use
For Drinking Water (Remineralising):
Add a small pinch (approx. 0.5g) to 1 litre of filtered water to provide around 80mg elemental magnesium, mimicking natural spring water. Improves hydration capacity and taste.
For Foot Soaks:
Add a heaped dessertspoon of flakes to bucket of water and soak for 20-30 minutes for relaxation, muscle recovery, and mineral replenishment.
For Baths:
Add 1-2 cups of flakes to bath water and soak for 20-30 minutes for relaxation, muscle recovery, and mineral replenishment.
For Mouth Rinse:
Dissolve 1 teaspoon per 250ml of water for mineral-rich mouthwash.
Storage & Care:
Magnesium flakes will draw moisture if exposed to air for too long. If they draw too much moisture over a long time you can just liquefy the rest and use as a magnesium oil the same way as the flakes were used. The magnesium chloride does the same job whether as magnesium flakes or liquefied. But it is recommended to use them up faster to get your daily dose of magnesium!
